Description: A device which, when attached to a remote sensor such as a video camera, chemical detector, biometric sensor, GPS or other device, allows wireless transmission and/or retransmission of data. May use radio frequency (RF), infrared (IR), or satellite (SAT) transmission.

ImportantFeatures: Compatibility with multiple sensor devices desirable.
May use wireless communications (802.11 standards, Bluetooth, Z-wave, ZigBee).
"Cookie Crumb" technology available.
Satellite communication may be Ka, Ku, or V Band.

Operating Considerations: Consider security of the data stream, and susceptibility to hacking/jamming.

Carefully check effective distance and sensitivity to obstacles and weather. May require line-of-sight. Check effective data rates in marginal conditions, especially if used for live voice/video communication.

Consider whether device utilizes licensed or unlicensed radio spectrum; preference should be given to licensed radio spectrum for limited interference.

Training Requirements: Core Training: Per Manufacturer's Specifications
