Description: Intrinsically safe exhaust fan for ventilation of confined spaces or enclosed areas with contaminated atmospheres.

ImportantFeatures: Positive or negative pressure.

Operating Considerations: Intrinsically safe equipment is defined as "equipment and wiring which is incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy under normal or abnormal conditions to cause ignition of a specific hazardous atmospheric mixture in its most easily ignited concentration." (ISA-RP12.6)

Products should be listed in accordance with NFPA 70.

Concerns regarding discharge air. If exhausting gases and vapors from an enclosed area, consideration should be given to the target discharge area, and possible recirculation of the exhaust gases should be considered.


Training Requirements: Core Training: OSHA 1910.146, NFPA 470 Chapter 4, 6, and 8 as applicable, NFPA 2500.
Initial Training: Minimal (<1 day)
Sustainment Training: Minimal (<1 day)
