Description: Equipment designed to maintain a continuous negative or positive pressure environment to isolate potentially contaminated or contagious patients requiring airborne precautions.

ImportantFeatures: Consider equipment which is portable, easy to set up, operate, and maintain, and includes written instructions and safety considerations/tips.
Some products may be configured as a single patient isolation transport mechanism, with handles for transport.


Operating Considerations: Can be used during transport and throughout medical care.
Backup power source and/or ability to operate using 110 VAC or 12-volt automotive source.
Note that filtration capability must be appropriate for the hazard. Biological filters will be ineffective against most chemicals. Consider inclusion of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) for filter systems or equipment which can kill mold and bacteria.


Training Requirements: Core Training: 29 CFR 1910.134, NFPA 450, NFPA 470 (within medical scope of practice).
Initial Training: Minimal (<1 day)
Sustainment Training: Minimal (<1 day)
