Description: Still camera, digital or film.

ImportantFeatures: Digital cameras (DLSR or mirrorless) using SD memory cards are becoming standard.
Decontaminable/disposable.
Intrinsically safe housing desirable.
Also desirable: active pixel sensors, image stabilization, device integration/
Wi-Fi Connectivity.


Operating Considerations: Consider consumables (film and batteries) for film cameras.

For digital cameras, consider battery life, memory capacity/media requirements (SD,HDD, etc.), interfaces (IP network, USB connect, wireless, etc.), resolution, image stabilization, and low light operation.
Consider resolution; High Definition (HD) capability is now considered standard, with 4K UHD also widely available.
Digital images may have legal implications - evidentiary standards for digital imagery are still evolving via case law.
Note that digital cameras should capture time and location metadata as part of the image.
